Why I don’t share my kid on Social Media

Hey loves!

So, I got a text asking for a picture of my baby since “we are being Jay-Z and Beyoncé” and hiding him from the public. While I know she was just teasing and loves and respects me, I thought I should address why you won’t see our baby online.

The first reason we agreed on this was because we, as adults, made the decision to join social media platforms and choose what we share. We understand and can take whatever backlash we get. Our baby should have that same right and should be prepared for the perils that come with this decision. Not to mention, once that gate is open, there is no going back and, knowing me, I would share about 85 pictures of him a day.

The next reason solidified our choice-The crazy people in the world. Can we talk about Catfishing babies? Actually, let’s not. Just know that it happens and I didn’t want to put myself in a position to be a victim of it. I know I can’t protect my baby boy from everything and I can only prepare him so much but this …just ridiculous! So, we just thought it was best to keep him off.

Now, the third reason, some may call petty. Others, may see it as rude but most of y’all understand where we are coming from. We have so many people who love and support us right where we are; who text us regularly (because who has time to talk on the phone), send care packages, pray for us and just have our backs, ya know? Those people are invested in us and see our baby grow. Others, for whatever reason, chose to step out of our lives, not be there anymore and not do the work. Those people don’t get to have the same benefits as the people who do. It’s just that simple.

Now, I certainly don’t judge you for sharing pics of your babies and, sometimes, I look forward to them. This isn’t a lack-luster attempt to mommy-shame, I’m not about that bass. I walk in my truth and I want you to walk in yours.

Love you, mean it.

Christmas Jammie’s are my Jam!

Hey loves!

The holidays are here and now that we have a baby I’m not the only kid at Christmas in our house and have good reason to be extra festive! ??
I’ve been wanting to make pajamas to put in our Christmas Eve Box (more on that later). So, I got some white t-shirts (my son and I already them, and I bought one for my husband for less than $4 at Walmart.) and then, using the Silhouette, I put a pocket monogram on each.
Now to the pants, I waited until the week of Thanksgiving for Joanns sale to really be great. I got 5.75 yards of snuggle flannel fabric for less than $10 and also got some 3/4″ elastic for around $2 with coupon applied.
Here is the best part: I found this awesome, super-easy to follow tutorial made all the pairs of pants in about 1.5 hours with cutting the fabric. I also added embellishments to mine, using ric rac on the hem and making a ric rac bow on the top.
Ummm, we will probably never buy pajamas again.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Mail Cardholder Quick Craft

So, the weekend before Thanksgiving, my family and friends went to a local craft and food festival where we saw a Merry Mail Cardholder for $10. Not bad, but I figured I could make it myself. Well, I did. First, I bought a thin wood rectangle from Joanns. It was around $1 after a coupon was applied.

Then, I painted it with grey acrylic paint, hand-lettered the words (I know my hand-lettering needs LOTS of work! I’m working on it!) and added some red and green polka dots. You can also use vinyl for the words and polka dots. I just wanted to paint.
Then, I plugged in the hot glue gun and went to my ribbon stash. I found some wired Christmas ribbon from 3 years ago and decided it needed to be used. I also found a bow from a gift last year made with satin ribbon and used that as the handle. (If you, don’t have the bow, you can use ribbon, burlap or just wire to hang it up.) I used hot glue to attach the ribbon and bow.
Then, because I was going the most, I painted some plain wooden clothes pins I got from Wal-Mart for $.97 red, white and green and attached then to the ribbon after they dried.
I let sit overnight and then hung inside. Sorry about the lack of pictures.
